Product Details

Small wooden shrine with an elegantly arched roof and fine fretwork, crafted in natural wood.

Dimensions: heigth 37 cm, width 34 cm, depth 22 cm.

Behind the double doors sits a polychrome gypsum figure of a seated monk in richly painted robes, on a pedestal with gilt details.

The central section with doors is removable.

Originally used as a household altar: the architecture follows a Shinto kamidana, while the figure is Buddhist—a harmonious blend typical of mid-20th-century Japan.

Now a characterful interior piece: compact, architectural and warm in presence—an inviting, contemplative accent for a console, cabinet or wall niche.

Good condition with age-appropriate wear and patina visible in the photos.
