Japanese Ink Painting on Kōzo Washi, “Dancing Woman in Kimono”, 1970s
Atmospheric Japanese ink painting on traditional kōzo washi paper, presented in a silver-coloured frame with passe-partout.
Dimensions (framed): height 71.5 cm, width 56.5 cm, depth 2 cm.
The work depicts a woman in kimono behind a wooden balustrade, captured in a graceful, dance-like pose. She wears a wide Japanese straw hat (kasa), partially hiding her face and giving the scene a quiet, mysterious quality. The soft black-and-grey palette with light highlights in the kimono creates a very calm, almost theatrical image.
Signed at the lower left (presumably to be read as: 'Kazuo') and stamped with a red hanko seal. The fibrous washi surface allows the ink to diffuse gently and emphasizes the handmade character of the piece.
Framed with a light passe-partout and matching metal frame. In good decorative condition with minor signs of age.
