Product Details

An exceptionally elegant Japanese kazari-dana from the 1970s–80s, featuring a refined asymmetrical design, intricate wood carvings and beautifully figured dark wood.

Dimensions: H 121 × W 110 × D 40 cm. Weight: 56 kg.

Crafted from richly grained shitan wood, the cabinet displays deep reddish-brown tones, almost black grain patterns and a warm, silky sheen. The gracefully upturned ends of the upper cornice give the piece its distinctive Japanese silhouette.

The exquisite woodwork is the defining feature of this cabinet. The door panels are adorned with finely carved reliefs of peonies, buds and leaves, framed by elegantly scrolling vines. Three staggered open display shelves feature delicate geometric fretwork and intricate pierced ornaments. A beautiful expression of traditional craftsmanship and decorative refinement.

The lower section offers three spacious drawers, with separate compartments above featuring hinged doors and sliding doors. At the very top, an additional storage compartment is concealed behind four small sliding panels decorated with floral relief carvings.

In very good vintage condition, with only minor signs of use.

A remarkable storage and display cabinet that combines practical functionality with refined Japanese aesthetics. A characterful statement piece that instantly introduces warmth, elegance and an authentic Japanese atmosphere to any interior.

Collection in Antwerp is available.
