Japanese Okimono Vase / Ikebana Stand, 1970s
A monumental sculptural ikebana piece in ceramic, executed in a minimalist and organic design. Classified as 伝統美術工芸品 (traditional arts & crafts product) and marked 置物 (okimono – decorative object), with the original seal and preserved cardboard box.
Dimensions: height 24 cm, width 36 cm, depth 27 cm. Weight 7 kg. In perfect condition.
The form is bold and modernist: four pronounced curved planes meet at subtle angles, while the surface is finished with a matte grey-green glaze, showing soft variations and hints of natural ash deposits. The incised circular patterns recall rippling water, giving the piece a serene, meditative presence.
A rare mid-century modern statement piece, suitable as an ikebana vase, planter, or as a sculptural highlight in any contemporary interior.
