​Vintage Kokeshi by Miyashita Hajime, 1970s–80s, Japan

An elegant Japanese creative kokeshi from the late Shōwa period, crafted by the award-winning artist Miyashita Hajime.

Dimensions: H 31 × Ø 11 cm.

The wooden figure has a refined, rounded silhouette, with deep black hair and a striking red topknot adorned with small black floral motifs.

The deep black kimono is decorated with carefully carved chrysanthemums (kiku), revealing the warm, natural colour of the wood. An elegant red bow and subtle red accents at the neckline create a beautiful contrast with the dark finish.

The original Japanese label on the underside bears the name of Miyashita Hajime and refers to his prestigious awards, including the Japanese Prime Minister’s Award and the Minister of International Trade and Industry Award.

In lovely vintage condition, with minor signs of age.
