Metal Antique Pulley with Rope, Japan, ca. 1890

This heavy, original Japanese pulley is a beautiful example of functional hardware with an almost sculptural presence. The wheel features a striking floral-like motif, while the long bar and the coarse, timeworn rope give the piece a raw, industrial character.
