Japanese Wooden Double Pulley with Forged Hooks, 1900s
This antique Japanese pulley is a striking piece of utilitarian craftsmanship from the Meiji period.
Dimensions: height 35 cm, width 12 cm, depth 8 cm.
The pulley features a double wheel set in a solid wooden block, finished with a thick rope and two heavily forged iron hooks. Together, it has that unmistakable “workwear” character: honest materials, pure function, and a surface that has only grown richer through years of use.
In an interior, it works beautifully as a hanging accent from a beam or wall hook, in the kitchen to suspend a basket, or as an eye-catching object in open shelving where wood, rope, and iron add warmth and texture.
The piece is in very nice condition, with natural age wear and light signs of use that suit its age and character.
