Minimalist Japanese Low Table / Display Table, 1910s

This antique low table from Japan has a strong, quiet presence: a compact rectangular top with softly rounded corners, set on a pared-back frame with straight legs and clean stretchers.

The top is dark and richly timeworn, with a striking, wave-like grain pattern that remains beautifully visible beneath the patina. Along the edges and corners you’ll see clear signs of use, with small areas of wear where the wood shows through lighter. These honest traces give the piece its unmistakable mingei character.
