Nancy Kunoth Petyarre – ‘Yam Seed Dreaming’, Acrylic on Canvas
Dimensions: canvas 60 × 50 cm; overall framed size 64.5 × 54.5 cm; depth 4 cm.
An original painting by Australian Aboriginal artist Nancy Kunoth Petyarre, titled Yam Seed Dreaming and executed in acrylic paint on canvas.
The surface is composed of thousands of carefully applied dots in warm shades of yellow, ochre, white, red and green against a dark background. Elongated brushstrokes along both sides create a subtle border within the composition. The dense rhythm of dots appears refined and almost meditative at close range, while creating a bold graphic presence when viewed from a distance.
Nancy Kunoth Petyarre lived and worked in the Utopia region of Central Australia. She belonged to the renowned Petyarre family of artists and began her artistic career working with batik before producing paintings on canvas and carved wooden objects. Unlike some of her sisters, she was not a highly prolific artist, making her original works less frequently encountered on the market.
The painting has been professionally mounted in a black wooden frame and is ready to hang. Its pronounced rhythm, earthy palette and clear abstract composition make it particularly striking in both contemporary and eclectic interiors.
This work originates from Aboriginal Gallery DACOU Australia. The gallery can confirm its provenance and authenticity. It is an original painting, not a print or reproduction.
The canvas is in excellent condition. The wooden frame shows only minimal signs of use.
A strong and refined original work by a respected artist associated with Australia’s Utopia art movement.
