The composition consists of a series of organic, freely floating forms set against a deep black background. Each shape is filled with delicate dots in white, red, ochre and soft mauve tones. The restrained arrangement, strong colour contrast and repeated dot pattern create a powerful visual rhythm and a calm, almost meditative presence.

The title refers to a Dreaming story associated with the mountain devil lizard, a small reptile that holds an important place within several Aboriginal stories and cultural traditions of Central Australia. Nancy Kunoth Petyarre lived and worked in the Utopia region of Central Australia. She belonged to the well-known Petyarre family of artists and began her artistic career working with batik before producing paintings on canvas and carved wooden objects.
