Porcelain 'Matsu' Hibachi, Japan, Shōwa period.
Very decorative porcelain hibachi (Japanese fire pot) with a stylized pine motif (Matsu).
Dimensions: Height 25 cm, diameter 26 cm. In perfect condition.
This hibachi is signed by the maker and dates from the 1970s. Pine trees (Matsu) are often used in Japanese art as symbols of longevity, perseverance, and resilience because they thrive under harsh conditions.
The brush-like strokes evoke a natural and elegant aesthetic typical of Japanese ceramics, with a simplicity that highlights the detailed pattern, similar to sumi-e (ink painting).
Originally used to heat spaces and prepare tea, hibachis are now popular as decorative objects and collectibles.
They are now often used as plant stands or integrated into interior decor due to their historical and artistic value.
