Beautiful set of five antique Owan bowls with exquisite Urushi lacquer colors: vermilion and black (Urushi = lacquered wood). The inside of the lids and the bowls are decorated using the Maki-e (蒔絵) technique: The lids are adorned with five different scenes featuring cranes, while the bowls feature a pine tree decoration. This historically rich set will serve as an authentic decorative element in the interior of any Japan enthusiast!

In the original wooden packaging.

Dimensions of the wooden box: height 19.5 cm, width 16.5 cm, depth 16.5 cm.

Bowl dimensions: height 9.5 cm, diameter 13 cm. The set is in good condition, with normal signs of aging and damage.

Wan (椀) or Owan (お椀) is a small bowl primarily used for personal use.

Owans are used for many different types of dishes.
