Set of Vintage Urushi Serving Plates – Honshu Urushi, Japan

Elegant set of five Japanese serving plates, crafted in fine urushi lacquerware (Honshu Urushi).

These plates were traditionally used for serving wagashi – the delicate Japanese confections often enjoyed with tea.

Dimensions (per plate): height 3 cm, diameter 16 cm

The deep, lustrous lacquer surface provides a refined backdrop for the subtle motif of two delicate plumes, rendered in gold and green tones. Each plate is signed on the underside, underscoring the craftsmanship and dedication of the maker.

The set is in good condition, with only minor signs of use and slight discoloration consistent with age. Both decorative and functional, these plates remain particularly well-suited for tea and dessert service, or as a stylish accent in an interior display.

A sophisticated ensemble that embodies the refinement of Japanese lacquerware in its simplicity and beauty.
