Tobe-yaki Decorative Porcelain Bottle, Baizan-gama, 1960s
Elegant Japanese porcelain bottle from the Tobe-yaki tradition (Ehime), with a flattened, fan-like body and a slender neck.
Dimensions: height 17.5 cm, width 17 cm, depth 5 cm.
The surface is decorated all around with a playful pattern of green and blue spots that flow into one another like watercolour.
On top sits a porcelain stopper with cork.
On the base is the character 梅 (ume), the abbreviated kiln mark of Baizan-gama, a well-known Tobe-yaki kiln. This character means “plum/plum blossom” and in Japanese symbolism refers to resilience and a new beginning.
Beautiful as a decorative accent on a sideboard, bookshelf or in an open cabinet, either on its own or combined with other ceramics.
The graphic blue and green pattern instantly adds colour and a subtle Japanese touch to your interior.
