Product Details

Characterful Japanese archive cabinet, dating from the Taishō period (ca. 1920).

Dimensions: Height 119 cm, Width 84.5 cm, Depth 34.5 cm

Originally used in a financial institution, this cabinet still bears traces of its past in the form of authentic paper documents affixed to the inside of the left door. These remnants not only confirm its original purpose but also offer a tangible connection to its historical roots—making it both functional and a unique piece of Japanese heritage.

Crafted from solid wood, the cabinet has developed a beautiful warm patina over the years. The deep, rich wood tones combined with clean, understated lines give it a quiet elegance. The double doors are secured with a decorative brass latch that adds an authentic finishing touch. Inside, the cabinet is neatly divided into three shelves, making it ideal for storing documents, tableware, textiles, or other personal items.

At the bottom, two practical drawers provide additional storage space.

Thanks to its understated beauty and practical layout, this piece remains perfectly suited for modern use as a stylish storage cabinet.

With its layered history and unique character, it brings a story into your home that no modern furniture can replicate.

The cabinet can be picked up in Antwerp (Belgium). Worldwide shipping is available upon request.
