Japanese Bamboo Storage Basket / Decorative Interior Basket, 1960s

Decorative vintage Japanese bamboo basket from the 1960s.

Dimensions: height 37 cm, diameter 43 cm.

The basket is handwoven in bamboo and has a tall, round shape with a strong, well-built structure. The weaving is particularly decorative thanks to the alternating use of light and dark bamboo, creating a subtle graphic pattern. The wide woven rim and beautifully finished underside highlight the handcrafted character of the piece.

This type of bamboo basket was used in Japan as a storage or household basket.

Today, the basket is above all a strong decorative interior piece. Beautiful as a basket for textiles, paper goods or dried flowers, or as a natural accent in a Japanese, wabi-sabi, rustic, country-style or eclectic interior.

The basket is in lovely vintage condition, with normal signs of use and age consistent with its material and original function.
