Vintage Japanese Kokeshi by Masae Fujikawa, 1970s

This vintage Japanese sōsaku kokeshi is an elegant work by Masae Fujikawa (藤川正枝). The doll has a soft, feminine form with a high dark brown to black hairstyle and a calm facial expression, defined by fine, understated eye lines and a small red mouth mark.

Dimensions: height 18.5 cm, diameter 8 cm.

The kimono is finished in deep red tones, with subtle black and gold accents and a refined floral decoration in white, red and yellow. The rounded form, warm colour palette and quiet details give this kokeshi a harmonious, almost meditative presence.

The underside retains the original Fujikawa sticker label. With its simple form, gentle expression and rich red colour, this piece is a stylish addition to a kokeshi collection, but also a warm Japanese accent in a contemporary interior.

In very good vintage condition, with light signs of age and use. Stable, decorative and refined in appearance.
