Cute vintage kokeshi created by Sadao Kishi.

Dimensions: height 19 cm, width 10 cm, depth 7 cm.

The kokeshi depicts a mother and child and is beautifully crafted.

The artist's stamp is present on the bottom.

Kishi, Sadao (1932-1998) was born in Maebashi, Gunma Prefecture in 1932 and produced hundreds of creative Kokeshi dolls until his passing. In 1950, he began creating Sosaku Kokeshi. Throughout his career, he received numerous awards, including the Prime Minister's Award and the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Award. He is considered one of the key influences of the 'Sosaku Kokeshi Movement', which gained recognition for the dolls as a popular and legitimate art form.
