This charming sōsaku kokeshi was handcrafted by artist Tsujita Ryozo, known for his understated and poetic style. The head is rounded with a soft dome at the top and features a delicately engraved face. The hairstyle is carved into the wood with fine vertical lines.

Dimensions: height 13 cm, diameter 6 cm.

The cylindrical body is decorated with a hand-painted camellia flower motif in vibrant red and soft green, set against a deep brown wood tone that contrasts beautifully with the lighter head. The natural wood grain subtly shows through both the head and body, giving the piece a warm and lively character.

The kokeshi is in good vintage condition and has developed a lovely patina over the years.

An expressive, timeless piece that embodies the quiet elegance of Japanese folk art.
