Rare Antique Storage Trunk, 'Tsuya Bunko', Meiji Period, Japan.
Unique storage box with lid from the late Meiji period, exuding a rich patina that captures the charm of a bygone era.
Dimensions: height 23 cm, width 50 cm, depth 41 cm.
The black box is made from a hard, leather-like type of cardboard and has developed a beautifully aged appearance. The lid and corners are reinforced with metal rivets, while the underside features four supports. Two convenient metal handles are provided at the ends.
Hand-painted Japanese characters adorn the sides, enhancing its decorative appeal.
