Antique Ceremonial Set of Traditional Lacquerware, Meiji Period, Japan.
Authentic antique set of Japanese traditional lacquerware with original storage chest from the Meiji period (Meiji 3 or 1870).
Dimensions of storage chest: 91 cm x 35 cm x 35 cm.
All pieces are made of wood coated with black glossy lacquer and feature a red mark.
These tables and serving bowls were used to present and serve dishes during ceremonies and festivities.
The serving tables and bowls are unique decorative accents that will bring a serene Japanese touch to any interior.
This set includes 5 serving tables, one stand table, one round chabako (tea box), one round tray, and the bowls consist of 25 pieces (total bowls + lids). The wooden storage chest is divided into compartments and includes a removable panel with handwritten calligraphy (double-sided).
From the text, the date can be inferred as Meiji 3 or 1870.
Some parts of the set show signs of age such as cracks or discolorations.
However, these do not detract from their decorative use.
