Complete Japanese Go Set / Wooden Goban with Stones, 1960s–1970s
Complete vintage Japanese Go set, consisting of a wooden goban, two lidded containers with black and white Go stones, dating from the 1960s–1970s.
Dimensions: height 30.5 cm, width 45 cm, depth 42 cm.
The board has a classic 19 × 19 playing grid with fine black lines and star points. The playing surface is in very good condition and remains perfectly suitable for play. A complete traditional Go set contains 181 black stones and 180 white stones.
The wooden board rests on four beautifully shaped feet with a rounded, floral form. The sides show a rich, timeworn patina, with natural wood grain, signs of use and subtle colour variations that give the piece great character.
The two synthetic containers keep the black and white stones neatly stored and complete the set. Ideal for anyone wishing to explore the game of Go, but also highly decorative as a Japanese interior object.
In good vintage condition, with normal signs of use and age consistent with its age, material and function.
An elegant and atmospheric Japanese Go set with strong decorative appeal, perfect for lovers of Japanese craftsmanship, strategy and timeless interior decoration.
