Decorative vintage Japanese Fukusuke money box, made of painted ceramic and dating from the 1960s.
Dimensions: height 20 cm, width 22 cm, depth 12 cm.
The figure represents Fukusuke, a traditional Japanese symbol of good fortune, prosperity and business success. He is recognisable by his round face, large earlobes, friendly expression and formal Japanese clothing.
The money box is richly painted in vivid colours, with a light blue headpiece, blue kimono, black and yellow details and red accents. At the back, there is a coin slot for savings. An impressed maker’s mark is visible on the underside.
With its charming shape, expressive face and striking colour palette, this piece is highly decorative. Beautiful on a cabinet, counter, desk or in a display cabinet, as a Japanese good-luck symbol and playful vintage interior accent.
In very good vintage condition, with normal age-related marks consistent with its age and material.
