French Double Pedestal Desk / Bureau Ministre, 1950s

Atmospheric vintage French pedestal desk, also known as a bureau ministre, dating from the 1950s.

Dimensions: height 80 cm, width 134.5 cm, depth 83 cm.

The desk is made from warm-toned wood with a beautiful timeworn patina. Its classic double-pedestal construction gives the piece a stately yet practical character. Each side features four spacious drawers, complemented by a central drawer beneath the writing surface. Above the drawer sections are two pull-out writing slides, ideal as extra workspace for papers, documents, a laptop or books.

The wooden drawer handles, panelled sides and back, broad plinth base and generous worktop give the desk plenty of character. The top shows normal signs of use, scratches and colour variations, all consistent with its age and authentic function.

A very appealing desk for anyone looking for a workspace with atmosphere and history. Beautiful in an office, studio, library, shop interior or as a statement piece in a warm vintage setting. As the back is also neatly finished, the desk can be placed freestanding in a room.

The desk is in good vintage condition. The two drawers with locks no longer have their key. The piece can be dismantled into sections, making transport easier.
