Wooden lucky doll by Kazuo Takamizawa, Japan.

The kimono of this kokeshi is embossed with floral and geometric patterns. The beautiful textured surface was created by drawing the lines using the pyro-engraving technique.

Dimensions: height 14 cm, diameter 7 cm. The bottom is signed by the artist, Kazuo Takamizawa.

This kokeshi is in good condition.

Craftsman | Woodworker: Takamizawa, Kazuo, born in 1927.

Takamizawa-san resides in Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture, known as the craft center for modern sosaku Kokeshi dolls. He is a multiple award winner, including the Prime Minister's Award.
