Japanese Go-Ban Game Table / Display Table, 1950s

A traditional Japanese go-ban, a solid wooden game table for the game of Go, dating from the 1950s.

Dimensions: height 20 cm, width 45.5 cm, depth 45 cm.

The thick wooden board rests on four short faceted legs and features the classic 19 x 19 playing grid, still clearly visible and usable. The warm wood tone, subtle discoloration and traces of use give the piece a calm, timeworn presence.

Originally made as a game table for Go, it also works beautifully today as a low display piece. Perfect as a base for ceramics, books, a plant, bonsai or a restrained Japanese interior composition.

The underside shows the traditional construction with four sturdy legs and a central recess. The solid wood, graphic grid lines and soft patina make this piece both functional and decorative.

In beautiful vintage condition, with normal traces of use, patina, light marks and wear consistent with age and use.

Sturdy, usable and highly atmospheric.
