Japanese Lacquered Wooden Box with Lid, 1960s

Distinctive Japanese wooden lacquered box from the 1960s, featuring a deep red lacquer finish and an elegantly curved handle.

Dimensions: H 32 × diameter 16.5 cm

The round box has a characteristic spherical shape, constructed from wooden segments, and features a removable lid. The warm red lacquer, subtle colour variations and visible wood grain give the piece an authentic, timeworn character.

The underside is decorated with a hand-painted black floral motif.

Its rounded silhouette and tall, curved handle give it a sculptural presence, perfectly suited to wabi-sabi, minimalist or eclectic interiors.

Good vintage condition with visible signs of use and areas of lacquer wear consistent with age.
