Japanese Matsuura Basket with Lid, Bamboo Weave, 1950s

Decorative round Matsuura basket from Japan, entirely handwoven from bamboo. The basket rests on three short bamboo legs and has a fitted lid with refined concentric weaving. The interplay of light and darker bamboo tones gives the piece a warm, natural presence.

Dimensions: height 15 cm, diameter 38 cm.

The basket is tightly and finely woven and in very good condition – sturdy and ready for everyday use. Perfect as a stylish storage basket for sewing notions, tea bags, nuts, fruit, jewellery, keys or other small items.
