Product Details

This Japanese matcha chawan (Kyō-yaki / Kyo-ware) features a distinctive raku glaze: a soft, layered surface with subtle tonal transitions and a pronounced crackle network. Cool grey and grey-green hues contrast beautifully with warmer terracotta and blush-pink tones.

Dimensions: height 7 cm, diameter 11 cm.

Inside, the glaze shows natural pooling with rusty accents and a smoky shift toward grey along the walls, adding depth and richness in use. The form is organic and sits comfortably in the hand, with a slightly thickened rim and a low foot ring.

Ideal for matcha and tea ceremony use, it also works perfectly for a small coffee, a dessert, or simply as a decorative object in a display cabinet or on a shelf.

A small, round impressed seal mark is present on the underside.

Condition: very good, with only light wear and natural crackle consistent with Kyo-ware and raku-ware glazes.
