Japanese Zataku (座卓), Elegant Low Coffee Table, 1940s
This low Japanese table is a classic zataku (座卓): a sturdy floor or tatami table traditionally used for tea, meals, and displaying beautiful objects in the home. Its proportions are generous, yet it remains visually light thanks to the openwork “sukashi” details in the surrounding rails and the refined, clean lines.
Dimensions: height 33 cm, width 90 cm, depth 90 cm.
The table is made from dark hardwood with a deep, warm sheen. The legs are subtly sculpted with elegant curves and a decorative relief detail, giving the piece a calm, serene presence.
Beautiful as a low coffee table, but also perfect as a display table for ceramics and collectibles, as a base for a small tea ceremony setting, or simply styled with a stack of art books and an ikebana arrangement.
Condition: in beautiful condition with only light, normal signs of age and use.
Shipping & pickup: pickup in Antwerp possible; worldwide shipping on request.
