Product Details

This Kamakura-bori haribako is a highly decorative yet practical Japanese mini drawer chest, made in the distinctive carved-and-lacquered wood technique. Its deep colours—warm dark red with chestnut-brown undertones—give the piece a rich, inviting presence.

Dimensions: height 25 cm, width 24 cm, depth 23 cm.

The chest has four drawers: two smaller drawers at the top for delicate items, and two more spacious drawers at the bottom for larger accessories or everyday essentials. Ideal for jewellery, stationery, keys, small tools, or any loose objects you like to keep neatly organised.

The floral iris motif is beautifully rendered in relief and continues across the drawer fronts, so the composition reads as one cohesive design. The understated dark pulls and corner fittings enhance the graphic look and give the chest that typically Japanese balance between decoration and clean lines.

Condition: very good, with only minimal signs of wear consistent with age and use. A characterful collector’s piece that fits effortlessly into a stylish minimalist interior, while also working beautifully in a warmer, eclectic setting.
