A vibrant and decorative wall display depicting the Seven Lucky Gods (Shichifukujin) of Japan.

Dimensions: height 47.5 cm, width 111.5 cm, depth 2.5 cm.

The outlines of the figures were meticulously cut from black paper. This template was then filled in with colored washi paper.

A cheerfully colored wall decoration with a traditional theme from the 1980s.

The piece bears a signature (hanko) in the bottom right corner and is framed (plexiglass).

These seven deities are often depicted together as a group bringing fortune and prosperity.

  • Ebisu: God of fishing, commerce, and labor.
  • Daikokuten: God of agriculture, wealth, and culinary skills.
  • Bishamonten: God of war, protection, and justice.
  • Benzaiten: Goddess of knowledge, arts, and music, associated with water.
  • Fukurokuju: God of luck, wisdom, and longevity.
  • Hotei: God of abundance, contentment, often depicted with a jovial figure and a smile.
  • Jurojin: God of long life, wisdom, and immortality, typically portrayed as an elderly man with a long beard.
