Product Details

Decorative square toban—a ceramic tile placed beneath the furo (brazier) during the Japanese tea ceremony to protect the floor.

Dimensions: height 2.5 cm, width 30 cm, depth 30 cm.

The tile displays a classic Oribe palette: a deep, vibrant green glaze band below, topped by a warm off-white slip with minimalist iron-brown brushwork (grass/sprigs and a circular motif). The sides carry a subtle impressed decorative pattern.

The body shows natural variations, tiny bubbles, and crackle appropriate to age and firing, enhancing its wabi-sabi character.

Ideal as a traditional tea-ceremony accessory, a decorative accent on a table or sideboard, or as a trivet for a teapot, incense burner, or flower arrangement.
