A decorative set of ceramic pigne from Seminara in Calabria, made by Gennaro Condurso.

A handmade and unique set, consisting of two sculptural objects.

Dimensions per piece: height 30 cm, diameter 18 cm.

These ceramic pigne are entirely hand-shaped and richly glazed in a lively combination of red, green, white, grey, ochre and earthy tones. The rounded upper sections are built up from dozens of raised elements, reminiscent of seeds, buds or a pine cone. The glossy glazes, colour splashes and free hand-painted decoration give the objects a vivid, almost organic presence.

The pigna is a powerful Southern Italian symbol of prosperity, abundance, fertility and protection. Gennaro Condurso gives this traditional motif an expressive, colourful and highly personal interpretation, fully in the spirit of the ceramic tradition of Seminara.

The bases are also hand-painted, with flowing brushstrokes and colour fields that beautifully connect with the sculptural upper form. Together they create a striking set with strong presence, ideal as a decorative accent on a cabinet, table, plinth or open bookcase.

They also work beautifully as garden ornaments or as accents on a terrace, patio or in a natural setting.
