A large and expressive ceramic plate from Seminara in Calabria, made by Gennaro Condurso.

This decorative plate features a lively, modern painting with an almost abstract face as its central theme. Large stylised eyes, red lips, a long yellow nose, geometric shapes, circles and free brushstrokes move playfully across the surface. The colours red, green, blue, yellow, black and soft grey create a strong graphic presence.

The work has a clearly Picasso-like and modernist feel, while still remaining connected to the expressive ceramic tradition of Seminara. The artist’s hand is clearly visible in the spontaneous lines, the relief of the paint and the energetic composition.

The plate is signed by the artist and fitted with a hanging system, making it easy to display as a wall object. It can also be beautifully used on a table or sideboard, for example as a decorative bowl for fruit, nuts or other small objects.
