Vintage Arita Blue-and-White Landscape Plate – Shōwa, 1940s

Elegant Japanese sometsuke plate (underglaze cobalt blue) with a serene central landscape: a waterside pavilion, pines, and misty mountains beyond. The scene is framed by a playful “cracked-ice” border (kōri-mon) with cloud-shaped reserves.

Size: Height 5 cm, diameter 32 cm

Soft indigo washes and crisp brushwork lend a calm, graphic presence. The base is fully glazed with five small spur marks—typical of Shōwa-period firings from Arita/Seto.

Condition: Very good vintage condition with light firing and use marks consistent with age.

A striking, timeless interior accent—beautiful as a fruit bowl or display plate.
