Ceramic Ikebana Vase, 1970s, Japan

A Japanese ikebana vase with a low, elongated form and softly speckled glaze.

Dimensions: height 12 cm, depth 12 cm, width 31 cm.

A series of circular forms creates a striking rhythm on both sides. Broad grooves run alternately vertically and horizontally across them. The pale blue-grey glaze is flecked with dark specks, with warm sandy tones in the grooves and along the edges.

The open form offers room for an arrangement of flowers and branches, but also looks beautiful with a small plant. Even without greenery, it is a distinctive decorative piece on a table or sideboard.

In perfect condition, preserved as new old stock.

A partially preserved label remains inside; the vase is otherwise unsigned.
