Antique Japanese Wooden Wall Decoration, Lattice Door Panel, c. 1890
This antique Japanese door panel, originally part of a piece of furniture, has a distinctly architectural presence thanks to its clean latticework of narrow vertical slats set within a sturdy wooden frame. The graphic rhythm feels both calm and powerful, which makes the panel work beautifully today as a decorative wall object.
Dimensions: height 78 cm, width 85 cm, depth 3 cm.
The surface has naturally darkened through age and use, with nuanced tonal variations that remain visible in the grain. On one side, a cut-out with metal hardware is still present—an honest detail that highlights its origin as a functional furniture component. Thanks to its compact size and shallow depth, the panel can be hung on the wall, or simply leaned against it as a natural backdrop for ceramics, sculpture, or a low arrangement of objects.
Condition: good, well-aged condition with visible signs of use and age along the edges and across the surface; solid and stable
