Japanese Ikebana Vase – Wakasugiya Kiln, 1980s
An expressive ikebana vase from the Wakasugiya kiln, executed in thick craquelure glaze applied in raised relief over the surface.
Dimensions: height 21 cm, diameter 15 cm.
The glaze creates a vivid mountain landscape in soft shades of pink, grey, and green, refined with delicate gold accents that subtly play with the light. On the reverse, two simple bird motifs add a poetic touch to the composition.
The layered texture and glossy craquelure give the vase a striking artistic presence, making it a true centerpiece in any interior.
A remarkable example of late 20th-century Japanese ceramics, where traditional motifs and modern glaze artistry converge.
Equally suitable as an ikebana vase or as a standalone design object with strong decorative character.
