Vintage Japanese Shogi Board / Decorative Display Table, 1950s

Elegant vintage Japanese shogi board, crafted in warm honey-brown wood with a beautiful natural grain and a rich patina.

Dimensions: height 17 cm, width 37 cm, depth 28 cm.

The board features a classic playing surface with a fine grid and rests on four strikingly shaped wooden legs. These rounded, turned legs give the piece a particularly sculptural and decorative presence. The solid wooden form, softly rounded corners and visible grain give the object a warm, refined and characterful appearance.

The shogi board can still be used for playing, but today it also works beautifully as a small decorative display table for ceramics, bonsai, ikebana, a plant, books or small art objects.

In good vintage condition, with normal signs of use and age consistent with its age and original function.
