Set of Three Vintage Japanese Bamboo Baskets, c. 1960s

Decorative set of three vintage Japanese bamboo baskets, dating from around the 1960s. The baskets have a low rounded bowl shape with gently flaring sides and a firmly finished rim, giving them a calm yet very stylish appearance.

Dimensions: height approx. 20 cm.
Diameter: from approx. 33 cm for the smallest basket to approx. 37 cm for the largest basket.

Each basket is handwoven in warm natural bamboo, with fine rhythmic weave structures and subtle colour variations caused by age and use. The inside shows a beautiful concentric woven pattern that comes together towards the centre, while the outside is slightly denser and more firmly constructed. The rounded rims are carefully wrapped, giving the baskets an elegant artisanal finish.

With their soft honey-brown colour, natural material and sober form, these baskets fit beautifully into a Japanese, wabi-sabi, rustic, bohemian, minimalist or eclectic interior. They can be used as decorative bowls, storage baskets, display objects or as atmospheric bases for textiles, dried flowers, fruit, paper goods or small collected objects.

The set is in beautiful vintage condition, with normal signs of age and a natural patina consistent with age, material and handcraft.
